Self-Reporting Meter Read Program

How to self-report for your non-standard electrical meter

Evergy customers in our Missouri West territory who are currently enrolled in our Non-Standard Meter Program may now register to self-report their monthly meter reads. To sign-up to self-report your monthly meter reads, please fill out the Self-Read Registration Form below.

Here's how it works:

  • Monthly Submission: Once registered, you will need to submit your meter reading each month by visiting the Evergy website and filling out the monthly read online form or calling the Evergy Contact Center each month.
  • Submission Window: Submit your reading between the last day of the month and the 2nd day (by 11:59pm) of the following month. Meter reads must be submitted by the 2nd day of the month. For example, a meter read for June needs to be entered between June 30and July 2.
  • Unenrollment: If you do not read and report your meter usage for two (2) consecutive months or any three (3) months in a rolling twelve-month period, Evergy will resume monthly readings of the meter.

By participating in the Self-Reporting Meter Read Program, you agree to the following:

Access to your meter must still be granted, as needed, to Evergy representatives. Evergy will verify meter readings in person at least twice per year. You agree to submit your monthly meter reading each month between the last day of the month and the 2nd day of the month of the following month.

No tampering of any kind shall take place on the Non-Standard Meter.

Participating customers must be current on all bill payments at the time of this request, with no past-due balance.

Please note that only customers who have previously signed the Non-Standard Meter Form and have submitted payment of the Non-Standard Meter Initial Setup Charge are allowed in this self-reporting program.

Apply to self-read your meter.

After applying, check your email for instructions on how to report your monthly usage.

1. I agree to report accurate readings, on a monthly basis, of my meter. If I fail to report my usage by the 2nd day of each month, Evergy will estimate my usage for the prior month for the purposes of billing.

2. Twice a year, Evergy may obtain an actual reading of my usage to verify the accuracy of self-reported readings.

3. If I fail to report my meter usage for two (2) consecutive months or any three (3) months in a rolling twelve-month period, Evergy may resume monthly readings of the meter.

4. If the number of self-read customers rises over 200, Evergy may reassess or limit this self-read option.
