Bill Payment Assistance

If you need help paying your bill and are at risk of disconnection, we can connect you to state and local programs that offer direct financial help. Customers must meet income requirements and/or meet additional requirements.

Important: Some energy assistance programs can take up to 30 days to apply to your account. Consider signing up for a payment plan to help take some of the pressure off while you wait.

Support for Those Facing Medical Hardship

For those facing a sudden or ongoing health crisis, Evergy offers bill flexibility and extra support during power outages.

  • Medical Customer Program: This program provides added support for customers who rely on electrically powered, life-saving medical equipment. During outages, Evergy offers special communication and tracking to help keep medically dependent customers informed and connected to assistance. Learn more >>
  • Medical Extension: If you’re facing a service disconnection for non-payment and someone in your home has a medical emergency that could be worsened by losing power, Evergy will delay the disconnection for at least 21 days from the date the extension is approved. Limit one per household member per calendar year. Learn more >>

Are you worried about missing a payment? Evergy offers a program where we'll contact a person of your choice if you miss two payments in a row. This person will not be responsible for making a payment to your account, but may be able to help you avoid late charges or disconnection. Complete our online registration form to get started.

We know that every household is different. That’s why we offer payment plans to help you stay current, plan ahead and feel confident about your monthly budget.

  • Avoid seasonal bill spikes with  Average Payment Plan and keep your monthly payments predictable. Find a steady, level billing amount based on your average energy usage. Learn more >> 
  • Adjustable Due Date is there for qualified customers who receive Social Security or SSI. Align your due date with your benefit schedule to help prevent late fees. Start an application >> 
  • Get extra time when you need it with a Payment Extension. Extend your due date and pay the amount due with your next bill. Enroll now >> 
  • An Installment Plan will divide your balance into 12 payments. Pay at least $4.00 to enroll and the leftover balance splits into 11 monthly installments that will be added to your bill. Payments must be on time each month to keep the plan active. Enroll here >>
