With the Time of Use Plan, the price you pay for energy depends on when you use it – and your smart thermostat can help you manage your energy usage to be as efficient as possible. Get both and start saving!
Part 1: Time of Use Plan
Our Time of Use Plan is an rate plan that rewards you with discounted rates when you use energy outside of the peak hours of 4-8 pm on weekdays. And weekends and holidays are always discounted. When there’s less demand on the grid, power is cheaper for us to deliver to you, and we can pass those savings on to you.
- Save up to 50% on the energy you use for 20 hours out of each day
- Avoid using large appliances between 4-8 pm on weekdays and save
Part 2: Thermostat Program
Our Thermostat Program pays you to effortlessly help manage demand for electricity on the hottest days of the year. By participating you’ll get paid while helping to keep everyone’s power more reliable. And with your smart thermostat, you’ll save even more on your energy while having greater control over your usage.
- Get a smart thermostat through Evergy at a majorly discounted price, or even for free
- Enroll in our Thermostat Program and we’ll pay you $25 each year you stay enrolled
- On a couple of the hottest days of the year your thermostat will adjust a couple of degrees to help ease strain on the grid, but you can override this change at any time

The cost of generating energy varies by time of the day, day of the week and by season. Providing that power costs less during off-peak times, so we pass the savings on to you. You'll pay a lower per-kilowatt hour charge during Saver and Super Saver times when you remember to use energy outside 4-8 pm. Plus, you always save on weekends and holidays.

Our thermostat program offers you the ability to control and monitor energy usage from anywhere through a FREE or discounted smart thermostat. Pick from the Google Nest Learning Thermostat, Google Nest Thermostat, ecobee3 lite and ecobee SmartThermostat.
As part of the program, you'll experience a few energy savings events a year (which you can choose to opt out of). These events help manage energy usage on select days of extreme heat when everyone is cranking up their air conditioner.
