Medical Assistance Programs for Evergy Customers
Reliable electricity is more than just a promise—it’s an expectation and a lifeline. That’s why we offer specialized programs to support customers with medical conditions or disabilities who may need extra assistance managing their energy service.
Medical Customer Program
If you or someone in your household is homebound, relies on electrically powered life-support equipment, and does not have a backup power supply*, our Medical Customer Program can help keep you informed during emergencies. Fill out our program application to see if you qualify.
Benefits include:
- A dedicated phone line for outage reporting and updates
- Extra tracking during restoration efforts
- Guidance on developing a backup power or relocation plan
*As a backup during weather-related outages, we encourage you to seek a backup power source or develop a plan for relocating until your power is restored.
If you're concerned about power outages but aren't a part of our Medical Customer Program, learn about our restoration process to understand when/how power is restored. You can view the outage map to find an estimated restoration time (if available) for your outage.
Medical Extension Program
Evergy customers experiencing medical issues or hardship may be eligible for a 21-day extension that can help prevent disconnection. This extension, available once per calendar year, can be requested by contacting our call center at 1-888-471-5275, visiting a Connect location, or emailing us at custserv@evergy.com. There’s no form, no application – simply let us know your situation, and our team will help you through the process if you’re eligible.
